Denis Power
Board Trustee
Denis, a career Banker with AIB Group (First Trust Bank), retired in 2012 and has a background in Risk Management, Quality Assurance, Audit, Financial Management and Corporate Governance. Denis was awarded a Bachelor of Financial Services from UCD in 1994 and is a Fellow of The Institute of Bankers in Ireland.
Denis was appointed a Trustee of Maritime Belfast in November 2013 and is currently Chair of Maritime Belfast’s Audit & Risk Committee (ARC) and a Member of Maritime Belfast’s Remuneration and Appointments Committee.
Denis was appointed as The Independent Board Member (IBM) with The Executive Office (TEO) in September 2017 and is also Chair of the TEO Audit and Risk Committee (ARAC).
Denis is active in community development and regeneration. He is a former Chairman (1993-2009) and founding member of Upper Springfield Development Trust. As a member of Business in the Community, Denis was awarded a Prince of Wales Ambassador Award in 2000 for his contribution to community regeneration.
Denis has continued with his voluntary effort in community development as a Director Springboard Opportunities Limited. A charitable organisation delivering opportunities for young people from socially disadvantaged areas as follows;
- Promotion of education, training, personal development and activities
- Promotion of mutual understanding, equality and diversity between people from diverse backgrounds, and
- Promotion of conflict resolution, reconciliation and peacebuilding within a national and international context.
Denis is also Chair of Springboard’s Audit and Risk Committee and a member of the Appointments and Remuneration Committee.
Denis was Captain at Balmoral Golf Club in 2016 and is currently the Hon. Secretary of The Northern Ireland Hotels and Caterers Golf Society.
